FAQ

Questions, answered.

Short, honest answers about day counts and how we handle your data.

Is this tax advice?

No. Aeonis Residency Days is a record-keeping tool. It counts the days you log and compares them with summaries of each state's rules. Whether you're a resident also depends on domicile and other facts, so confirm with the state or a tax professional.

What counts as a day?

Most states with a day test count any part of a day spent in the state, so a travel day counts in both places. A few count differently, and we note those. More on what counts.

Where is my data stored?

In your browser, on your device. We don't receive your log. Pro sync and share links are encrypted in your browser first, so we store only copies we can't read.

Does it track my location in the background?

No. Your location is used only when you tap Check in here, and it's matched to a state on your device. Nothing runs in the background.

What happens if I clear my browser?

Your log is deleted from that browser. Download a backup from the tracker regularly, or use Pro sync to keep an encrypted copy.

Is 183 days the rule everywhere?

No. Many states use more than 183 days plus a home in the state, but some use 200, 210 or 270 days, some use months, some have no day test and nine have no income tax on wages. See every state.

Can I track my spouse or kids?

Yes, on the Family plan: up to five people, each with their own log and report.

Can my accountant see my log?

Only if you send a share link. Links expire after 7, 30 or 90 days and you can delete them at any time.

Is it free?

Yes. Logging, check-ins, counts, the calendar, the federal test and backups are free. Pro adds encrypted sync, photo and CSV import, the audit report and share links.

Still have a question?

We read every message.
